When it comes to #improvingHR, where’s your focus?
How much time do you spend debating WHAT you do vs. HOW you do it?
While, long-term, the WHAT (value) is really important, the real opportunity space is strengthening the foundation of HOW.
Why?
There are two reasons:
- When you start doing the really important stuff REALLY WELL, you create a virtuous cycle of being asked to do even more important stuff.
- When you focus on HOW, you find that a lot of WHAT you’ve been doing is out-moded, out-dated and simply doesn’t need to happen.
Through successive HR transformations, I’ve heard senior HR leaders asking “what comes off the table?”
Far fewer of those leaders have been willing to address the question fully. Those that have, have seen gains in capability, capacity and impact.
All it takes is a focus on the HOW.
A focus on HOW you influence within and beyond the HR function…
A focus on HOW you continuously improve processes…
A focus on HOW you deliver work through a project management mindset…
So, when it comes to, where’s your focus?
